Gulmi: The Musikot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gulmi, is organizing the Second Musikot Agricultural, Tourism, Sports, Cultural, Industrial, and Trade Fair. With the slogan “Agriculture, Tourism, Water Resources, Industry, and Trade: The Basis of Prosperity for Musikot Municipality,” preparations have begun for the festival.
The festival will be held from December 26 to January 4 (Poush 12 to 21) at Musikot’s central hub, Wami Taksar, as announced by the organizers during a press conference today.
The fair will feature exhibitions of agricultural products, goods produced by small and home-based industries, school-level educational materials, an open men’s volleyball competition, kabaddi competition, various cultural displays from Musikot, Musikot Folk Song and Dance Idol, a children’s garden, and the promotion of natural, religious, cultural, touristic, and historical heritage within Musikot. National and local artists will also perform during the event, according to Vice President Laxman Phuldel.
The festival will run for ten days, showcasing local agricultural products, industrial goods, and tourist attractions, including Musikot Durbar, Shalime Lake in Wami, Wami Kot, Tarakhase, Malika Temple in Kurgha, Swara Homestay, Chhatra Bhumi Temple in Paudi Amarai, Sita Cave, Lali Gurans Thum Park in Tilechuli Badagaun, Gwade Chaur, Badighat, and potential rafting sites in Nisti, stated Gopi Krishna Kharel, President of the Chamber of Commerce.
The event aims to preserve traditional cultural performances such as Sarai dance, Lakhe dance, bhajan, Naumati Baja, Sorathi, and Hemphai dance while promoting local cuisine like Jhiniya Roti and various ethnic dishes, according to Senior Vice President Gyanhari Sapkota.
As part of the festival, Musikot Idol will be organized. Exhibitions will include coffee produced in Aapchaur, oranges from Arlangkot, vegetables, honey from Malarani, and other agricultural products. Over 150 stalls will be set up, with 10 stalls allocated for agricultural exhibits, 10 for small and home-based industries, and 5 free stalls for women entrepreneurs. Additionally, businesses within Musikot will receive a 15% discount.
To manage the event, a main organizing committee and 14 subcommittees have been formed, as per the organizers.
